You did very very well on this I am totally amazed! 8D
I am so drawn to and gush over the painting job you did on the clouds! It's just brilliant! The color choices and how you shaded and lightened it is just so ASDFGHJ
Clouds are one of the most hardest things to color but have one of the most beautiful effects. * 3 *
I love the idea of the airships
But these are Ranmyaku's airships oh my!
I'm very interested on what those devices are on the bottom of the ships and why they have that particular shape. c:
OH HEY is that Arielle and Isamashii in front of the picture~? c:
You painted the rocks very well too
And I agree with the critiques of ~cdabroom, but I also think the clouds should be shifting to the right of the picture as well along with the wind. c:
You really get a sense of the great power and influence of Ranmyaku's evil. Who knows how many armies he's got in ONE of those ships. :I
I really wanted to do a morning/dawn color scheme because I think it's cool how much more eerie and ominous danger seems contrasted against a peaceful setting. :U That and purples and blues and oranges are pretty. 8D
I want to hopefully work out an interesting steam powered mechanism for these! For now it's a bit ambiguous but when I work on the concept for these I can put more detail into it. The very bottom of the ship does have a few gears that stick out and I put that kind of curved piece in front to act as a shield against objects that could potentially fly into the gears and jam them. :U
But those definitely are Ranmyaku's and that is indeed Arielle and Isamashii! I love that you pick up on the little details I sometimes put into stuff.
As for criticism, I think the figures in the foreground should be casting a harsher shadow against the rocks. Also, the sails are being blown to the right of the page, but the flags on the ships are being blown to the left. I think making them blow in the same direction would add to the realism of the scene. However, I think these are minor details that don't really detract from the overall impact of the painting; great job!
Haha, you know, I'm really glad you mentioned the problem with the flags! I honestly couldn't figure out which way they would be blowing (being moved from the wind or from the ship propelling forward?). So now that a couple people say that it looks odd I believe I have my answer! XD It should be a quick fix to switch that. Thank you for the comment!
